Ok I've had some good fun laughing at Vince Young. If you don't know, he supposedly scored a 6 on his wonderlic test. It's a test that all potential NFL players take at the combine. It's 50 questions and you have a limited amount of time to finish. Well I took a sample test. I'll give the link to the test and tell you my results later. I don't want to help you out at all.

Hey -- I got 80% right. Not quite like Young's alleged 6 out of 50. What, just over 10%? Yikes.
Although I should say that I'm having a hard time actually believing that story. A guy like LaVar Arrington getting such a low score would be more believable. I'm not under the illusion Young is extremely smart or anything, but overall, the test isn't THAT hard.

Hey Budah! I got 10 of the 15. I got a little nervous about the time restraint and didn't read a few of the questions right.
I guess the bigger story is Young not taking the test seriously. Young didn't participate in any of the physical aspects of the combine and I guess he figured that meant he didn't have to prepare for any of it. I hear these prospects have trainers who prepare them for not just the physical parts of the combine but also the interviews and the wonderlic test. Any score that is really low would not only show a lack of intelligence but also a lack of preparation.
All that to say Young was very exciting to watch play college football and I assume he'll be a good pro too.
Whoa -- lack of preparation is a bad attribute for a pro quarterback. Let's hope he feels the need to prepare week in and week out when he's actually in the NFL. I get kind of nervous with these top-5 picks who were so great in college that they ride that into the NFL, thinking their success in college will grant them success in the pros. He'll probably be pretty exciting, but he'd better not just assume he can walk in and do well because he's talented. At that level, a lot of the players have a lot of talent.
On that topic, do you think his position coach in the NFL will try to alter his, uh, unique throwing mechanics, or do you think they'll just go with what's worked? If they do, then do you think his mechanics will work in the NFL?
More broadly, will he be another Michael Vick? A great athlete, but not truly a great (complete) quarterback?

Oh, and the problems that gave me the most trouble two of the math problems -- the one about words per page and the one about difference in profits. I ran across those and immediately said okay, I'm not going to figure out those within the limit, so I just skipped them.
